MICE CONTROL & RODENT PROOFING
Mice Control, Rodent Proofing & Sanitation in Southern California
Tiny droppings in the pantry, scratching behind the stove at night, or a mouse sprinting across the kitchen floor – that’s not just “annoying.” Mice contaminate food, chew wiring and spread urine and droppings through the same spaces your family uses every day.
Urban Wildlife Trapping Experts provides professional mice control and rodent proofing across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. We track down the tiny gaps mice are using, trap them without attic poison dumps, and then seal and sanitize so your home is tighter and healthier than it was before.
Where We Most Often Find Mice
- Kitchen pantries, under sinks and behind stoves and refrigerators
- Attics with light tunneling, scattered droppings and urine staining
- Crawlspaces and subfloors where pipes and wires punch through framing
- Garages, water heater closets and laundry rooms with stored clutter
- Exterior AC lines, utility penetrations and gaps around siding and stucco
Real Mice Work, Not Just Bait Stations
Mice don’t need much – a gap the size of a dime, a warm space, and food crumbs. That’s why simply dropping bait stations and hoping for the best almost never fixes the problem long-term.
- Los Angeles County: (310) 528-9229
- Orange County: (714) 913-6110
- Riverside County: (951) 324-5036
- San Bernardino County: (909) 582-3073
We are not just “pump, pray and spray.” Real trappers get dirty in attics, crawlspaces and behind appliances so we can find how mice are moving and shut those routes down.
Common Signs of a Mice Infestation
Mice are light, fast and quiet. By the time you see one in the kitchen, they’ve usually already mapped out a full route between the yard, crawlspace, wall voids and food storage areas.
Everyday Signs Inside the Home
- Small, pointed droppings in drawers, pantries and under the sink
- Chewed food packaging and shredded paper or insulation
- Scratching or light scurrying behind walls at night
- Mice darting along baseboards or behind appliances
What We See in Attics & Crawlspaces
- Scattered droppings on joists, beams and top plates
- Small tunneling in insulation, often near roof or wall edges
- Urine staining and odor that builds up over time
- Gnaw marks on wires, pipes and soft building materials
Tiny Entry Points Mice Love
- Gaps where gas lines, water lines and AC lines enter the structure
- Openings around hose bibs, vents and meter boxes
- Unsealed weep screeds and transitions between stucco and siding
- Loose weatherstripping and gaps under garage and exterior doors
If any of this sounds familiar, you don’t just have “a mouse or two” – you have established routes that need to be found, trapped and properly sealed.
Mice Inspection: Mapping the Full Route, Not Just the Kitchen
A proper mice inspection is more than peeking under the sink. We map the entire path: where they’re coming from outside, how they enter the structure, and where they’re nesting and feeding inside.
Exterior Inspection
- Foundation edges, siding transitions and stucco cracks
- AC and refrigerant lines entering walls and attic spaces
- Utility penetrations, hose bibs and electrical boxes
- Vegetation, stored items and clutter that create cover near the house
Interior & Structural Inspection
- Kitchen and pantry areas, including pull-out drawers and toe-kick voids
- Behind and under stoves, dishwashers, refrigerators and laundry machines
- Attic joists, beams and insulation for droppings and runs
- Crawlspaces and wall void access points where plumbing and wiring pass through framing
After the inspection, we walk you through the findings and outline a clear plan: trapping, exclusion and cleanup, with options for deeper attic cleaning and crawlspace decontamination if the contamination is heavy.
Mice Control: Precision Trapping & Tight Sealing
With mice, bad poison jobs are everywhere – bait blocks tossed in cabinets, crawlspaces and attics with no real plan. We take a different approach: trap, seal and clean, using the structure to your advantage instead of turning it into a graveyard.
How Our Mice Control Program Works
- Set traps along known travel routes, not just random corners
- Use multiple trap styles appropriate for tight, discreet areas
- Monitor and adjust placements as we read fresh sign and activity
- Continue until the structure is quiet and activity stops
Rodent Proofing & Exclusion
Mice are small enough that lazy exclusion doesn’t work. We pair trapping with detailed exclusion and damage repair:
- Seal dime-sized gaps with proper metal, mesh and sealants
- Screen vents, crawlspace openings and utility penetrations
- Close access into wall and cabinet voids wherever possible
- Tighten up garage doors, exterior doors and weatherstripping
Our goal: when the current mice are gone, new ones don’t simply follow the exact same blueprint back into your house.
What Mice Do to Food Storage, Wiring & Air Quality
Mice don’t weigh much, but they can do a surprising amount of damage in a short amount of time – especially in kitchens, attics and crawlspaces.
Food & Kitchen Contamination
- Urine and droppings on shelves, dishes and food packaging
- Chewed bags and boxes where they’ve been feeding
- Contamination inside drawers and lower cabinets
- Odors and grease trails along baseboards and walls
Wiring & Structural Issues
- Gnawed electrical wiring that can become a fire risk
- Chewed appliance cords and flexible gas lines
- Damaged insulation in attics and around wall penetrations
- Contamination in wall voids and under floors that you can’t easily see
Air & Health Concerns
Mice travel the same surfaces your family uses – kitchen counters, cabinet shelves, HVAC chaseways, and utility rooms. Over time, that can create:
- Persistent odors, especially in warm weather
- Higher exposure to rodent-borne bacteria and allergens
- “Mystery smells” that come and go with temperature and humidity
That’s why a full mice job often includes cleanup and sanitation, not just trapping. You want the contamination out, not just quieter scratching noises.
Mice Cleanup, Sanitation & Restoration
Once the structure is sealed and trapping has quieted down, we can safely move into cleanup. The goal: remove contaminated material, disinfect and deodorize, so your home feels like a home again.
Kitchen & Interior Cleanup
- Wipe down and disinfect affected hard surfaces
- Remove droppings and nesting material from cabinets and drawers
- Advise on what food products must be discarded
- Identify access points behind appliances and recommend closures
Attic & Crawlspace Cleanup
- Remove bulk droppings, nesting material and soiled insulation as needed
- HEPA-vacuum accessible surfaces to capture fine debris
- Apply disinfectant and odor neutralizer to affected areas
- Replace insulation or vapor barrier when contamination is heavy
We document conditions with photos so you can see before-and-after results and have proof of the work done – helpful for your own records or future buyers. In the future, we plan to publish a mice behavior guide at /wildlife-encyclopedia/mice/ to help homeowners understand why mice pick certain homes and how to make yours less attractive.

Mice Control & Rodent Proofing FAQs
Is one mouse a big deal?
By the time you see a mouse in the kitchen, it usually isn’t alone. Mice breed quickly and use wall voids, cabinets and appliance voids as safe travel routes. One visible mouse is often a sign of a larger pattern that needs a real inspection and exclusion plan.
Do you use glue traps for mice?
No. We use more professional and humane trapping methods that let us control where mice are caught and how quickly the structure can be cleared. Glue traps also leave live, suffering animals for homeowners to deal with, which is not how we operate.
Why not just let my cat handle it?
Some cats will catch a mouse or two, but they can’t seal roof vents, close wall penetrations or clean up contaminated attics and crawlspaces. You might see fewer mice in the open, but the infestation behind the scenes can still be growing. We treat the structure and the population, not just what you can see.
How long does a mice control job take?
Most mice jobs follow the same pattern: inspection and setup on the first visit, trapping over 1–3 weeks depending on activity, then sealing work and any needed cleaning. We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on how heavy the infestation is and how accessible the key areas are.
Will mice come back after you’re done?
Mice exist everywhere in Southern California. No one can promise they’ll never touch your property again. What we can do is find and close the real entry points, remove the current population, and correct the conditions that made your home such an easy target in the first place.
